Dog is God Spelled Backwards

DOG is GOD spelled backwards.  Coincidence?  Maybe, maybe not.  There is no other creature who embodies God more than a dog.  In fact a dog can teach you at least five spiritual lessons God wants you to learn.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.  A dog will love you with no strings attached.  He doesn't care if you are wearing the latest styles or worn out sweats.  He doesn't care if you are thin or fat.  He doesn't care if you live in a tiny apartment or a huge mansion.  He doesn't care when you make mistakes.  In fact when you are happy so is he.  When you are sad so is he.  This is the kind of love God wants us to experience and share.

FORGIVENESS.  A dog forgives immediately.  Whether you yell, punish, or are just having a bad day, he will still run to you, tail wagging, ready to be with you.  Jesus commanded we forgive one another yet this is the hardest thing for most people to do.  Instead they are consumed with anger which leads to emotional scars and misery. God wants us to forgive each other, and ourselves, for any and all transgressions so we can move forward in harmony.

NON-JUDGMENT.  A dog doesn't make judgments.  He accepts everything just as it is and everyone just as they are.  He doesn't try to change circumstances or people.  God wants us to accept the ever changing circumstances that will occur knowing He is in control.  Every person we encounter should be accepted for who they are, a child of God.  Yes we must judge a person's character as to whether or not they are a child of God but once we decide someone is then we must choose to see their goodness and look past what we consider to be their flaws.

LIVING IN THE NOW.  Dogs live in the moment.  They don't waste time regretting the past or worrying about the future.  If we always live in the present moment, we can't regret the past or worry about the future.  Let go, let God.  God is waiting to help us so we need to choose to believe this simple lesson with true conviction.  Then we can truly enjoy today in all its glory.

ACCEPTANCE. Your dog accepts each and every moment that life gives him as it is. He doesn't struggle against circumstances or grumble about unfair treatment.   Instead he accepts whatever happens in his life knowing that struggle will only exhaust him and make him miserable.  Accept your current situation by placing it in God's hands and not only will you live in tranquility but you will see your situation miraculously change without any effort from you.

Dog is God spelled backwards.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Going now to spend some time with that wonderful little Dog of mine who has been patiently waiting to show me some love and attention...
