Tropiclean Fresh Breath

We have been fans of Tropiclean Shampoos and conditioners for some time now.  I alternate between Opti Neem Flea and Tick Shampoo and Papaya Plus 2 In 1 shampoo with great results.

A little over a month ago we entered a giveaway at Fido Friendly and won a sample size of Tropiclean's Fresh Breath Clean Teeth Gel and Natural Water Additive.   First, the "sample size" contained a generous 4 oz bottle of the teeth gel and a 2.5 oz bottle of the water additive.  Second, since I am an avid fan of brushing Kirby's pearly whites I was excited to test these products.

Did you know that without proper dental care, 70% of dogs and cats start to show signs of oral disease by the age of three?  Oral disease can eventually lead to tooth loss or other serious health problems.  Then there is the cost of dental surgery to scrape tarter buildup or repair damaged teeth.  And let's not forget doggie breath which can prohibit letting Fido get too close.

The teeth gel claims to work fast and naturally to help reduce plaque and tartar with no toothbrush required.  It contains a proprietary blend of natural, holistic ingredients to kill the germs that cause bad breath, plaque and gingivitis. It comes in a 4 oz bottle and retails for $14.99.  The ingredients listed are purified water, grain alcohol, natural mint, glycerin, natural cleanser derived from coconut oil and corn, aloe vera leaf juice, carbopol, chlorophyllin, green tea leaf extract.

If you prefer, they have a mint foam which comes in a 4.5 oz bottle and retails for $14.99.  We didn't receive a sample of this product but I may have to purchase it just to try.

The natural water additive is a plus to maintain healthy gums and eliminate bad breath for up to 12 hours.  All I have to do is add one teaspoonful to Kirby's drinking water each day.  It comes in a 16 oz bottle and retails for $14.99.  The ingredients listed are purified water, aloe vera leaf juice, citric acid cetylpyridinium chloride, chlorophyllin, glycerin, sodium benzoate, green tea leaf extract.

I liked these products so much I decided to purchase a bag of the Dental Chews for Dogs.  Kirby greatly dislikes Greenies so I was concerned I might be wasting my money.  I was pleased to see that he loves them.  This low fat, low calorie chew has natural breath freshening ingredients like dill, parsley and mint. It comes in a 5 oz. bag which retails for $9.99.  The ingredients listed are wheat starch, wheat protein isolate, glycerin, soy flour, maltodextrin, water, natural flavor, parsley, powdered cellulose, color added (titanium dioxide), monoglyceride, magnesium stearate, dill, sorbic acid (preservative), spearmint, mixed tocopherols (preservative & source of vitamin E).  Each chew is a generous 1 inch by 1.5 inch size.  I give Kirby half of one every few days.

To say we like these products would be an understatement.  I had been using a beef flavored dog toothpaste which Kirby tolerated simply because he had no choice.  It removed odor but didn't make his breath smell particularly good.  Tropiclean has a delicious minty smell Kirby doesn't seem to mind and I certainly appreciate.  Our foster Gracie had the stinkiest breath ever but not anymore!  I just use my finger to rub the gel on her teeth and she shares a chew with Kirby every few days. Puppy kisses are again just the sweetest!

The price sounds expensive until you realize how long a bottle will last.  I did a 30 day review brushing Kirby's teeth every night and Gracie's every few days and I still have a little more than half of the bottle of gel.  I added the water additive every night and did run out by the end of three weeks.  I should have counted the chews but I still have 12 left after 3 weeks.

See my pearly whites!

Kirby and I give Tropiclean Fresh Breath 5 wags!!
